How Much Does ProPresenter Cost? Pricing and Alternatives

ProPresenter is an incredibly powerful worship software and is one of the leading worship software used in churches. Because of its popularity, the program does not come cheap.

ProPresenter costs $399 (USD) per licensed computer. A campus license (20 computers) can be purchased for $999 (USD). After purchasing, ProPresenter+ costs $179 annually. ProPresenter also offers a two-week free trial. Three main alternatives to ProPresenter are Proclaim, MediaShout, and PowerPoint.

The exact amount you will pay for ProPresenter ultimately depends on how you intend to use it and how long you intend on using it. Factors like the number of computers ProPresenter will be active on, or the need for support and updates will play a huge role in the cost of ProPresenter.

Which ProPresenter Plan You Should Use

ProPresenter’s pricing structure is fairly simple. For churches, you have two options: purchase a single seat for $399 or purchase a campus license for $999.

With a single license purchase, you will only be able to use ProPresenter on one PC/Mac at a time. In contrast, a campus license allows you to use ProPresenter on up to twenty computers at a time. Now, there are two important things to note here.

The first is that although the campus license allows you to use ProPresenter on multiple PC/Macs at a time, you are still limited to one single campus site at a time. If your church has several campuses, you will need to purchase several individual single licenses rather than a single campus license.

Second, it is important to note that users with a single-seat license are still able to use ProPresenter on any computer they wish. They just have to log out and log back in between different computers, meaning two computers will not be able to run ProPresenter simultaneously.

ProPresenter licenses are lifetime keys to the software. You will be able to log in and out on various computers as long as you still have your unlock code. However, ProPresenter licenses only come with one year of support and updates from the developer, Renewed Vision. To receive continued support and updates, you must purchase “ProPresenter+” annually. ProPresenter+ costs $179 annually for individual licenses or $449 annually for campus licenses.

ProPresenter Single vs Campus License

Single License

$399

One Year of Support & Updates

One Campus at a Time

Campus License

$999

Up to 20 PC/Macs at a time

One Year of Support & Updates

One Campus at a Time

For most churches, a single computer license should be sufficient. A single computer running ProPresenter will be able to run your front-of-house screens as well as any confidence monitors. It can also run any announcement loop screens around the building if hooked up correctly.

It is important to note that users with a single-seat license are still able to use ProPresenter on any computer they wish. They just have to log out and log back in between different computers, meaning two computers will not be able to run ProPresenter simultaneously.

Campus licenses are mostly intended for very large churches that use multiple sanctuaries in a single building. For example, a single campus might be using ProPresenter in two different but concurrent services while also using ProPresenter for the Youth and Kids programs else as well. Having a campus license will allow these large churches to run up to twenty computers with ProPresenter at the same time.

If you need to use ProPresenter on three or more computers simultaneously, it is more cost-efficient to get a campus license rather than three separate single-seat licenses.

ProPresenter Alternatives

While ProPresenter is an incredibly powerful tool, it is also an expensive one. It is important to evaluate your own ministry setting to see if ProPresenter is the right presentation software for you and your team. Here are some alternatives to consider if you are not sure ProPresenter is a good fit:

Proclaim

Proclaim is another leading church presentation software that is commonly used today. Proclaim is a much simpler program to use when compared to ProPresenter. Additionally, Proclaim is an online service-based program. This enables users to edit a Proclaim presentation on any device with internet access, allowing collaboration with multiple team members on the same presentation.

Proclaim also has a “Pro Media” collection available for you to use at an additional cost. This stock media can be used for various graphics for sermon slides, announcements, or other graphic needs. If purchased, these graphics are available directly within Proclaim for you to edit and add to your presentation easily. Editing these graphics is incredibly simple to do, providing an attractive solution for team members that do have limited tech knowledge.

While Proclaim is a simpler program to use than ProPresenter, it also is not as powerful of a tool. For example, ProPresenter is better equipped to handle multiple screen types (i.e. main screen, confidence monitor, announcement monitor, etc.) and is able to handle multiple audio channels (allowing live streaming).

As an online service, Procliam has a subscription-based model. Further, Proclaim’s pricing model is based on the size of the church that subscribes. For a church of fewer than 50 people, Proclaim costs $20/month or $200/year (this does not include its stock media service). Full details on pricing can be found here.

MediaShout

MediaShout is a popular church presentation software alternative. Like ProPresenter, MediaShout can be complicated to use at times, yet not having quite as many features as ProPresenter. Nonetheless, MediaShout still has CCLI integrations to automatically import songs and Bible integrations to autofill Scripture passages.

Similar to ProPresenter, MediaShout sells lifetime licenses to its software. A single-seat license for MediaShout 7 costs $399. MediaShout also offers a subscription-based model, which provides ongoing support and updates to the software. This service, entitled MediaShout 7 LE, costs $29 monthly or $179 annually.

While MediaShout is a capable program, ProPresenter and Proclaim both are stronger church presentation software. MediaShout and ProPresenter have a single-seat purchase price of $399, yet ProPresenter continues to be a much stronger program with stronger support and updates.

PowerPoint

PowerPoint is a widely popular presentation software, both in churches and other environments. The program is incredibly simple to use with lots of free online resources for support. Many, if not most, users already have PowerPoint available on their computers already, making it the most popular presentation software worldwide.

PowerPoint, however, is not designed with worship services in mind. Instead, it has been created primarily for business and education use. Importing song lyrics is an incredibly slow and tedious process, and PowerPoint is unable to output multiple screen types simultaneously (i.e. main output, confidence monitor, announcements, etc.).

The main reason churches may use PowerPoint as their presentation software is to save on cost. Microsoft’s pricing structure is admittedly complex, although many users already own a lifetime license to use PowerPoint on their device – making the effective cost $0. Microsoft PowerPoint can be purchased for as low as $79.99 for lifetime access, or you can get the entire Microsoft 365 suite for $7 per month.

Put simply, while PowerPoint can theoretically get the job done when it comes to your church’s presentation needs, the program is not built with churches in mind whatsoever. Nonetheless, if your team is looking for an incredibly cost-effective solution, PowerPoint may be worth considering while bearing in mind its limitations.

Is ProPresenter+ Worth It?

Purchasing a ProPresenter seat is a one-time purchase. However, support and updates from the developer, Renewed Vision, are only included for one year. For further access, you must subscribe to the developer’s annual subscription, entitled “ProPresenter+.”

ProPresenter+ provides users access to RenewedVision’s support system as well as immediate access to any updates released. The service requires an annual subscription, priced at $179 annually for a single-seat license. Campus license subscriptions cost $449 annually.

Whether or not ProPresenter+ is worth it depends on your own church environment. Churches that do not have a robust tech team may find ProPresenter’s support system worthwhile to pay for. Larger churches that are using the latest tech may enjoy constant access to the recent updates released by the developer. If the support systems or the recent updates are not necessary for your church, you may not need to invest in ProPresenter+.

It is important to be aware that you are unable to subscribe to ProPresenter+ at any time you wish. The developers, Renewed Vision, require you to maintain a constant ProPresenter+ subscription for a single-seat license. New purchases of ProPresenter include one year of ProPresenter+ by default. After that one year, you have 30 days to renew your subscription before it is terminated. If you allow your subscription to end, you will be unable to renew it. The only way to regain support and updates for ProPresenter is by purchasing a brand-new seat at the regular price of $399.

Can You Use ProPresenter For Free?

Users of ProPresenter are able to download the program onto as many devices as they wish without purchasing. You will be able to set up presentations and playlists in the program without an unlock code. However, whenever you try to “present” on an external monitor, you will have a large watermark across the screen, rendering the program somewhat useless. To get rid of this watermark, you must have an unlock code from purchasing ProPresenter online from Renewed Vision.

Being able to download ProPresenter for free on additional devices can still be incredibly helpful. For example, if the speaker for a service would like to make their own slides, they are able to download ProPresenter to their computer and make slides. After finishing their slides, they can export and email them to the tech leader to import into the main ProPresenter computer that has a full license. A similar process can be done by worship leaders for song lyrics.

Ultimately, no, you are not able to use ProPresenter for free. Only prep work can be done for free, you’ll have to buy a seat if you would like to present.
