Church Photography: 14 Amazing Cameras For Church Services

When it comes to church photography, you need a highly versatile camera because you will find yourself shooting in many different styles and environments. As for photographing church services specifically, two things to focus on come to mind: continuous shooting and low-light performance.

For low-light performance, there are two things we consider; sensor size and back-illuminated sensors. Between two 26 Megapixel sensors, the physically larger one will have better low-light performance. This means a 26-megapixel full-frame sensor will have better low-light performance when compared to a 26-megapixel APS-C sensor.

One way that camera manufacturers improve low-light performance is by utilizing a technology called “back-illuminated sensors”. I won’t get too technical; what I will say is that this technology rearranges the elements of a camera’s sensor to allow more light to be registered. With this in mind, back illumination (BI) is a benefit when it comes to church service photography cameras.

Before you decide on a camera for church photography, you should fully understand each setting and why it’s important. Luckily, I have an in-depth guide covering how to pick a church photography camera.

I have organized the following list in roughly ascending order of price. This means we start off the list with the lowest-cost camera; the Sony α6400.
